After having a good loan spell with the Giallorossi Smalling seems to be heading back to Old Trafford.
The English defender joins Roma on a season-long-loan deal back in August, after falling down the squad pecking order at Old Trafford under ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 30-year-old registered Three goals to his name in 37 appearances, he help them finish fifth in Serie A and also advance into the latter stages of the uefa Europa league.
Back in April the, Paulo Fonseca Roma boss made it clear publicly that he will like to retain the services of the 30-year-old.
The centre-back’s loan agreement ran until the end of 2019/2010 Series A campaign, Roma will take Sevilla in a single leg round of 16 tie in Germany and will be without the English man.
Smalling confirm the news on is social media saying,
“I’m gutted that I can’t finish what we started this season.
He also added wishing Roma good luck,
